Thursday, April 30th, 2009

If you’re not using Twitter yet, you best believe you are missing out. Twitter is an online service that enables you to broadcast short messages to your friends or “followers.” It also lets you specify which Twitter users you want to follow so you can read their messages in one place.

Twitter is a very powerful social networking tool. Here are some easy steps to follow to use twitter effectively to build your brand, gain exposure, gain visibility and position yourself as a knowledgeable marketing resource.

1.) Send out an email for everyone to follow you on your list.

* Offer internet marketing tips & how to get traffic through your twitter tweets…..

* Since Twitter is not email based, it will get delivered 100% of the time no questions asked.

2.) Get involved with your followers. When you do this you are building relationships. Be active in the community and network with other people. Review their videos, articles, blogs, sites and give feedback to them.

3.) Branding – Communication will allow you to establish a reputation of an active twitter and helping people out.

4.) Video or Buzz Group – Rate, vote, digg people content.  People love to see others checking out their content, and usually they will return the favor..

5.) Let them know out your articles, blog post, videos, press releases or newsletters and ask them for some feedback.  This can also create a social buzz.

Powerful Tools To Use with Twitter:

Twitter application in Facebook – posts my Twitter updates to Facebook status. I seem to have a different network on Facebook than I do on Twitter so this helps spread the content.

twitter.ezinearticles.com – This is EzineArticles twitter research page.  Lets you search & follow other marketers in your niche — very simple

TweetLater. Was explained in the video.

TweetDeck – Desktop application that allows me to show Twitter searches, DMs and Replies in one screen. There are any number of tools to get this done, but I like the interface of TweetDeck

Twtter lets you build your list while communicating at the same time.  Email marketing is great but you have to build your list first before you can communte with them.

Twitter helps almost everything you need go viral.

No Time To Wait Take Action Now….. Check out Video Tutorials on making your twitter on auotpilot.

Industrial Fit Out Strategies of a Successful Company

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Introduction

An enormous number of people work in offices of one kind or another. They may be offices in buildings purpose built or attached to a factory or in business premises. For many self employed business people the office is a room in their home converted for that purpose. Solicitors, doctors, estate agents and insurance agents, in fact any business that you can think of, works from some kind of office or another. You might even say 80% of the adult population work in an office. But I wonder how many of those people have any say in what kind of office they have and whether or not it suits their requirements. Mostly when someone new joins a company or firm, they are given a space for their office usually left by the previous incumbent. I suspect that if you asked occupants how they would like their office to be they would find it difficult to tell you.

When you think of the number of hours we spend in an office, at least eight hours per day and sometimes up to sixteen hours if it’s a busy period. Yes people are allowed out for breaks and rest times, but it is an awful lot of your life cooped up in small space. If at least a third of one’s working life is to be spent in an office, then it makes perfect sense to ensure the environment is as comfortable, pleasant and as healthy as possible.

So how much thought goes into the planning of workspaces?

Where a building is purpose built such as an office, then the architects I am sure will have created good designs to suit the purpose. However, it has been known for new buildings to be problematic for the people working it them. For instance, synthetic materials used for carpeting can sometimes give off toxic fumes which cause allergies or illness of the staff. Air conditioning that relies on recycled air has the potential to carry bugs that can lay the whole office off at the same time. So there are many factors to consider in creating an office environment to ensure the staff are productive, creative, energised and remain healthy.

Old buildings, originally built for other uses, when converted to office space will have different challenges to resolve. Often old buildings have very high ceilings where the heat rises up so that the inhabitants below are cold yet the heating bills are going through the roof, literally!! How to maximise the space available to provide a comfortable working environment will be a real challenge and this is where often the use of a mezzanine floor and suspended ceilings are valuable.

It is a well known fact for any business that happy workers give better performance and generate more revenue than unhappy workers. The workforce are more motivated, creative, helpful and have less time off work for illness if they are happy in their jobs. I am sure there are statistics available for these details, citing references to studies that have been performed, and they will all point to the fact that if the work environment is comfortable then your employees will be more productive. By hiring an interior fit out specialist you can invest in your company and protect its biggest asset: the men and women who make up the organisation.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of workplaces and the equipment used, to achieve the best design for comfort, safety, efficiency, and productivity. Research has been carried out over the last few years at Nottingham University on office space allocation problems.

Workspace planning is fast becoming a specialist industry because of all of the current regulations and legislation. Formerly known, in the UK as the Factories Act and now known as the Health and Safety Executive regulations are in place to ensure that employees have sufficient working space in which to perform their work. This can be a potential minefield including such things as physical space, usable space, corridor spaces, and minimum light and ventilation regulations. If you are about to commence on an office refurbishment project ensure that your interior fit out specialists of conversant with all of these regulations before you engage them to perform your work.

What are the Criteria for a good office environment? We are sentient beings, which mean we respond with feeling and perception as well as intellectually to our surrounding.

Seeing

The first thing to consider when commencing an office refurbishment project is how does it look? The initial impact on us comes from what we see. The decor and arrangement of furniture, the window aspect and lighting are important in our perception of whether or not it is pleasing to the eye. Does the office have all the necessary equipment, computer, phone and sufficient storage for files and books etc? Plants provide a sense of balance in the space as long as they are discreetly positioned and don’t make it look cluttered. Plants are oxygen generators and help to refresh the air.

Smell

On entering a new place the first thing we take in is the aroma whether we pay attention to it or not. We notice immediately if the air is stuffy or if there is an unpleasant smell such as sweaty bodies. However a pleasant fragrance or no smell at all will be inviting. Baker shops nearly always pump out the fresh smell of baked bread into the street to entice people in to buy the goods. So although we may not be aware that smell plays an important part in our responses, we are still animals and we do use our olfactory senses a great deal more that we realise.

Feel touch

How does the furniture feel? Plastic seats can be very uncomfortable to sit on for a long time. Plastic does not breathe, it draws moisture from the skin so that when you stand up your posterior will be damp and uncomfortable. Padded fabric is warmer than leather for comfort and not as expensive. The desk chair needs to be the correct height for desk and give suitable support, a computer needs to be set correctly to avoid neck and wrist strain of the operator.

The temperature in the environment is best if it’s not too warm and not too cold. Maintaining a working temperature of twenty one degrees centigrade should also be an integral part of office refurbishments solutions.

Too warm and we become sluggish and sleepy, too cold and we become distracted and use up valuable energy keeping warm. Fresh air is also beneficial to stimulate the brain cells.

Sound Hear

What can we hear? Is it noisy or quiet? When I was first starting out in business, I went to visit a local manufacturing company to learn about the way they managed their business. At lunch time I was taken into the executive dining area where there was a waitress service and we had a very civilised lunch. Later I was taken to the works canteen. When we walked in I was hit with a blast of noise such as I had never experienced before. The hall was large with a very high ceiling and nothing to damp down the echo. The result was that everyone ended up shouting to be heard and there was loud music playing as well. I was shocked, not just at the noise level but by the contrast between the executive dining room and the workers canteen. I had come from an business which treated all members of the company the same so there were no executive areas and everyone, high and low mingled together for meals and break times. Guess which company had the better worker relationships and higher output?

Where a company utilises an open plan office then noise levels can be very distracting and one solution is to incorporate ‘White Noise’ which is a low level background noise to interfere with the general office talk going on over the phone or mini meetings. Sometimes quiet relaxing music is introduced as background noise but this is not common in a business place.

Taste

Well we are not going to go around licking the furniture, but another important consideration is to ensure that a there is an area to enjoy a nice coffee or tea away from the desk throughout the day. So is there a pleasant area for making drinks and preparing snacks, or even lunch facilities alongside the office. I once worked in an office where they had a small kitchen area off the main office for making drinks and snacks and there was always a bowl of fresh fruit for staff, as the company recognising the refreshing effects of fresh fruit.

Workspace planning

So as you can see there are many things that can make the work environment a agreeable place to be. However getting the original layout and size of spaces for the employees is a complex process.

How much room does each individual need to work in? According to the Officewise publication from the Health and Safety Executive in the UK employers must provide a minimum of 11 cubic metres for each person permanently occupying a workplace. However there are all sorts of exceptions and caveats to this rule, such as making sure the space is usable space, and clearly if that space were under the stairs with no windows, or ventilation then it would not be suitable. So it is very important to ensure that your new office fit out adheres to all of the current legislation with regards to workspace laws.

An experienced industrial fit out specialist will usually install a suspended ceiling which makes the installation of services easier and more cost effective. Electrical supply, air conditioning units, water pipes and telephone cables can all run behind the suspended ceiling making access easy if anything goes wrong and repairs need to be implemented.

Positioning of the electrical and telephone outlet is also critical. The computers used in offices today all require their own electrical supply even if they are networked with the system.

Outside light from windows is a requirement for offices. The days of the cupboard office cubbyhole are gone. Light airy spaces make people feel good and doses of sunshine each day lift our spirits. However too much sunshine will overheat an office so the use of vertical blinds is recommended to deflect the rays of the sun without reducing too much the level of illumination.

Costs

To conserve office space costs some industrial fit our specialists have come up with the idea that instead of having a board rooms for meetings they have their meeting standing up around a special tall coffee table. This reduces the amount of time spent in meetings and the space is reusable for the lunches. Other schemes encourage employees to work from home for part of a week and utilise a system of desk sharing or moveable desks.

Reconfigurable spaces

Another way of economising on the cost of office space is by careful rearrangement of the existing floor area. There may be dead areas which could be released and turned into useable space. The installation of new interior partition walls can rearrange the existing space to create a pleasanter working environment. Sometimes working in an open plan office is beneficial for communication between staff, other times it is a distraction and prevents efficiency. So having the option of both open space and separate offices provides the full range of options which can be easily introduced with new partition walls.

For example one of my clients, took over a set of offices and had various walls moved, so instead of it having two small offices, one without a window, they created one large office for the MD and a really good sized store room which they needed for long term storage of customer files. They then took out another partition and made a good size open plan office space and rearranged another wall to create a board come conference room. Also access to the little kitchen was changed to be more convenient. The choice of subtle colours on the walls and new vertical blinds caused the whole suite of rooms to be transformed into a pleasant and airy working area. Where there is plenty of ceiling height the introduction of a Mezzanine floor generates valuable areas perhaps for storage, private meeting rooms or extra offices.

Other concerns in workspace planning, is the situation of facilities such as kitchen, toilets, relaxation areas and outside space if available. Sometimes the introduction of a simple partition can create a relaxation/dining area without losing too much of the work area.

All Health and Safety regulations are paramount they have to be adhered to in the workplace and must be incorporated into any plan along with full fire regulations.

Conclusion

Many organisations may feel that upgrading the facilities is a ‘nice to have’ idea and the reality is that it usually comes at the bottom of the list on money allocation. However this is erroneous thinking; office refurbishment is never a waste of time or money. Creating a pleasant office environment by upgrading worn out or old fashioned surroundings and furnishings will make a big difference to the working life of the employees. Improved working conditions may be only part of the picture in achieving real job satisfaction, but it is a good start in the right direction. It also says a lot about what the senior people in the organisation think about their employees. If they ensure that their staff are given the necessary equipment and facilities to do their job effectively then the employees will give better service and can be more efficient and there will be a better working environment all around.

Find cheap insurance companies for German Riester insurances

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

There are many insurance companies offering a so called Riester-Contract on the german market. Usually it is not easy for the consumer to find the right insurer that fits best with the own requirements. How can you find the right insurance for Riester covering your requirements at the best price? The following site offers a free Riester-insurance comparison: Riester Rente Versicherungsvergleich. There you can obtain quickly the right Riester-Insurance offer from a great number of insurance companies.

For whom is a Riester-Insurance useful? Each employed professional, who is not willing to rely on the statutory pension exclusively, should think about a Riester insurance. If you are looking for a Riester insurer in Germany, you should take into consideration some important points:

For all children born from 2008, the publicsupport for Riester contracts has increased significantly. The sponsorship for children can be taken in addition to the basic aid. This creates an additional incentive for parents to upgrade their own pensions by a Riester contract. The financial burden on your Riester pension consists of your own contribution and the state allowance, whereas the latter depends on marital status and number of children. In addition to the state allowance you can also benefit from the possibility of tax deduction concerning your private contributions to the contract. Before choosing your German Riester-Insurance company, you should always ask for several offers. That can be done online: Riester Rente im Internet. For all employees the additional retirement security in the form of the German Riester pension is very interesting. Also officials, judges and soldiers belong to the circle of beneficiaries of public sponsorship for Riester pension.

Since 2006 there apply the same contributions and the same benefits for men and women to new contracts. The state sponsorship for Riester pension insurance is granted only upon request. The insurance provider can provide for the application of the sponsorship. The Riester pension is a very good completion to the statutory pension schemes on a voluntary basis and therefore an important component of your individual pensions. If your financial status should get worse over time, one important thing is that the private equity in your savings account is not subject to distraint. The legislature has created additional incentives for private pensions by the Riester pension reform and the related public support. Those public supports make it more easy for people with average income and for families with children to build an additional pension. Therefore those incentives for additional savings have been created.

Do You Need An Authority Site?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

You should know that over the last year Internet marketing has evolved and the new online business model involves authority sites taking the place of spam sites.  This is making for happy search engines as they do not like sending traffic to sites that merely scrap content and add nothing unique.

What is an Authority site?  Why should it matter to you?  Well Authority sites are sites that provide an abundance of high quality unique content and are linked to or referenced by other quality websites within the same niche.

When you are searching for topic specific information, where do you find it?  Is it bookmarked within you favorites folder?  Isn’t that where you keep Authority sites you have found in the past?  If you are thinking of creating an Authority site you should be aiming to have a content rich site that will land you in the favorites folder of many visitors.

There are thousands of spam sites that have gone up with only the intent of getting you to click on one of the ad-sense ads you will find there.  Sites like this do not offer anything unique and are great examples of sites with content scraped from others.  You probably took one look and clicked quickly away.  Who could blame you?

An Authority site on the other hand is not one that you will quickly click away from.  It will suck you in with its unique content and style.  Inviting you to take another look and thirsty for more.

An Authority site will have pages of unique content that is topic relevant.  Authority sites will have content that is current and keeps visitors coming back to stay abreast of what is happening in the field.  The visitors will spend additional time reading and learning to find answers to questions they were not even aware of.

Authority sites are a doorway to additional unique content for your field of interest.  They will offer links to information on other sites that have content which is relevant to the topic.  As an example an Authority website that focuses on dogs would have pages of links to relevant off site information.  Perhaps that dealt with training or breeds.  Providing the links to off site and relevant information is a sign of a website that is more focused on providing relevant resources to visitors than it is on keeping those visitors within its own website.

Out going links do not hurt Authority sites, they make those Authority sites a better resource for the web community.

Authority websites are interested in forming ongoing relationships with visitors more than anything.  They are interested in giving quality content and a valuable resource for the web communities’ use.

To that end Authority websites generate well written content that is focused and topic relevant.  They have conversations with visitors through the information they supply and let their personality show in their writings.  That provides readers with in insight to their convictions.  It shows the website is willing to do the research needed to provide visitors with quality content and coverage of topical trends.  This is how sites become Authority destinations.

To create an Authority site you should find a niche that you know something about.  Being knowledgeable on the topic will help when you are creating content for your website.  You will also need to keep current on the changes going on within your niche so sign up for RSS feeds and Google alerts on the topics within your niche.  These free resources will keep you up to date. Visit Authority Blueprint for a step-by-step guide on becoming an authority site.

Always put visitors first and keep in mind that you are creating a site that will answer your visitors’ questions while providing valuable content.  Be credible while creating a site you can be proud of.

Questech Sandgate and Dorset Collection

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Leading backsplash tile supplier My Tile Backsplash is pleased to announce the addition of both the Sandgate and Dorset Collection from Questech to there vast selection of backsplash material.

The Sandgate and Dorset Collection offers an array of decorative accents in both a natural stone and a metal look. Each Series has three different categories within each of the Sandgate and Dorset lines.

Questech Metals – Questech invented a breakthrough technology, a process for casting beautiful metal objects at a fraction of the weight and cost of solid metals. This discovery led to the launch of the industry’s first mass produced metal tiles, creating an important new category in the tile and home improvement markets. The difference between the two series of Sandgate and Dorset Collections is the style offerings between them. The colors that are offered are the same, just different designs between the two series.

Questech Cast Stone – Questech broke the mold again, with their revolutionary product of the cast stone series. These decorative pieces have a resemblance of natural stone with the look of travertine and marble. The product offering in this category is phenomenal. The selection includes everything from a 2″ x 2″ to a large 16″ x 24″ mural. Again, the color offering between the Sandgate and the Dorset collection are the same, just the different designs associated with each series.

Questech Natural Stone – This includes a factory-sealed tumbled marble collection offered in both Castle Wheat and Casa Emperador. Tumbled marble tiles have better wear properties, warmer feels, softer appearance and a matte finish. Tumbled Marble with Q-Seal provides a built-in anti-bacterial protection. Ultra-Fresh inhibits the growth of stain and odor causing mold and mildew. It is factory applied and will not lose its effectiveness over time. The added anti-bacterial protection makes the tiles ideal for showers, tub surrounds and kitchen backsplashes. They will never be the worry of having to reseal the tiles or worry about special stone cleaners.

As with all the products from Questech, each and every one of the products is sealed with their Q-Seal. The fear of sealing or water-damaged products does not exist with the Questech product line.

Opt In Email List Building

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

A very important thing to a person nowadays is his own email address. People treat their email addresses with utmost privacy because once it gets into the wrong hands, other people might gain access to personal data of the owner of that email address. When someone gives his or her email address to you, they expect to hear from you again in the future.

Be honored that this someone had entrusted you with a personal detail of his life which you must treat with respect.  If you have internet based businesses and some people gives you their email addresses that could only mean one thing. These people want to know more about your products or services. Now you can add their email addresses to your opt in lists.

This is a sign that you now have to give them more information about the products you are selling. And to all the people in your email mailing lists, you could send each and every one of them a newsletter and updates about your products, special offers, and anything that will remind all of the people in your email mailing lists that the web site is still operational.

In creating an opt in email list, aside from increasing and expanding the web sites’ customer database, you add more selling opportunities to your business and, the most important thing is that you are giving positive service to the viewers of your web site. They will know that there is something they might find or need in your web site. Maybe not today, but tomorrow. So keep building all your email mailing lists.

Why I Choose a Jogging Stroller

I was running on the treadmill at my local gym when a new mother hopped onto the treadmill next to me. Much to my surprise she was holding her baby. I asked her why she was carrying that new baby on a treadmill. She said she couldn’t bear to part with her little one, yet still wanted to get a workout in. After about ten minutes she was extremely tired and her baby was crying. Now what? Well within a few days I saw her again. This time she wasn’t at the gym. She was running outside the gym. She was jogging behind her nice, new jogging stroller. Mom was happier and her baby was happy too.

I have had several moms e-mail and ask “Is a jogging stroller right for me?” Well there are a few factors to consider.

First, if you prefer to run on the treadmill at the gym then you probably won’t need a jogging stroller. However, if you are like me and enjoy running outside and spending time with your baby then a jogging stroller is the best way to go.

When you choose to buy a jogging stroller don’t forget important safety features like a hand brake and wheel locks for easy stopping, safety belts and the five point harness. Your child’s safety should always come first. The five point harness is great for toddlers and small children.

Also consider your child’s comfort. You may want to look into a reclining seat and a canopy. It is also a good idea to wait until your child is holding his or her head up and sitting independently before using the jogging stroller. However, there are safety products you can buy if you would like to use your jogging stroller sooner.

When we’re running in cool or cold weather, we may be hot or comfortable in minimal clothing, but a child is not doing the exercise. Don’t forget to dress your little one in warm clothes, especially if you’re running or walking in the wind. Short runs are best with your child. Competing while pushing your running stroller is not recommended.

I prefer a jogging stroller versus a regular stroller because I enjoy being outside. I have found that my jogging stroller makes it a lot easier to push on non-paved roads and it moves at a faster pace
